Reuters informs, Canada is preparing a pilot program that provides tattoos for prisoners. It is an effort to stop the spread of diseases such as hepatitis and AIDS.

Under this program, prisoners in six of Canada’s 58 federal prisons will be offered free tattoos.

Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day says the program also includes immunization against hepatitis A and B, voluntary screening for early detection and treatment of infection, and courses to inform prisoners about the dangers of illegal tattoos.
